In recent years, powered surface planers have taken the tiresome, and arduous task of shaving thick stock with a hand tool and simplified it by bringing this task into the modern age.
Effective and effortless, powered surface planers use their rollers to keep stock moving, as it shaves away any excess and unnecessary wood, thus delivering a nicely finished layer of thin material.
The DeWalt DW735X 13″ Three Knife, Two Speed Thickness Planer has built upon the previous designs of surface planers with ingenious engineering and design improvements, ultimately making surface planing simpler and more effective than at any other time in the tools evolution. Always important is the power, DeWalt didn’t skimp when it added a powerful 15 AMP, 20,000 RPM motor, which has a running 10,000 RPM cutter head speed. In addition, with handles that can take on larger cuts in wider materials, you’ll find getting the perfect cut has never been easier. The three knife cutter-head delivers a 30% longer knife life and makes knife changing faster and easier. A two speed gear box allows the operator to change the current feed speed to optimize the cuts per inch at 96 or 179 CPI. Also included in the design is a fan-assisted chip ejection vacuum, which chips off of the cutter-head while ejecting them out of the machine itself. A 19-3/4″ cast aluminum base is made to take two times more rigid than a standard 10″ base and folding table. The automatic carriage lock releases you of rocking troubles as it reduces almost all movement that causes snipe, without the need for manual engagement by the operator. The material removal gauge has an extra-large thickness scale which works hard for you as it delivers accurate cuts with every pass. An extra-large turret depth stop, allows users to return to their most frequently used thicknesses effortlessly, saving you the time of going back to put it in manually. DeWalt has also generously included an in-feed and out-feed table, a dust hose adapter, a dust ejection chute and an extra set of knives with the DW735X.
