DeWalt built the DeWalt DCK281D2 20V MAX XR Lithium Ion Brushless Compact Drill / Driver & Impact Driver Combo Kit, with quality made DeWalt brushless motors that are engineered to deliver up to 57% more run time versus the more traditional brushed motors. Brushless motors are ideal as they provide low friction, thus releasing less heat in the tool and therefore increasing the tool’s durability and overall longevity. In addition, these tools also include a microprocessor that controls the current and flow through the power tool’s motor to ensure a superior flow of power. Another brushless motor advantage is the enhanced performance and high fade free power. A brushless motor tool is notably lighter, as the included motor is smaller thanks to it’s ability to transfer power more efficiently than it’s bulkier predecessors.
The DeWalt DCK281D2 Kit comes with two 20 volt XR Li-Ion batteries, these batteries include a fuel gauge and provide over 33% more charge capacity over the standard packs. The brushless motor provides up to a 50% increased run time per battery. This offers fade free power that saves time, as the user is able to work more, with less overall downtime.
The DeWalt DCD790 20V MAX 1/2″ drill/driver and DCF886 20V MAX 1/4″ impact driver compact are as the name implies, compact and lightweight, both weighing in at a mere 3.5 pounds, and as it relates to being compact, both are specifically designed to easily fit into the tightest of areas. Both tools also feature handy LED lights. The LED lights are designed with a 20 second trigger release delay, which provides increased visibility in dark and confined spaces.
