Taking Care of your Voltage Tester

Greenlee GT-95 Voltage Tester (CAT IV 600V / CAT III 1000V)

Many technicians find that their voltage tester may not last through the first year of purchase. If thats your story as well, check out our tips for keeping your voltage tester in top shape. First off, never put your voltage tester in with your other tools in a tool kit. Rough daily treatment of this tool leads to failure. Try keeping it in a separate bag or at least on your hip, especially if you intend to use it on a daily basis. Second tip, keep up with battery changes. Your tester is going to need a lot of replacement batteries, so make sure you keep a good stock on hand. Thirdly, treat this tool with care, dropping it can lead to severe consequences that result from thinking a bad reading is a good one.

The Greenlee GT-95 Voltage Tester (CAT IV 600V / CAT III 1000V) comes with test leads, two 1.5 V AAA batteries, and a carry case, just so you might be able to take advantage of it! The Greenlee GT-95 features the ability to read AC/DC voltage and polarity measurements, an LED lit dual color LCD for the technician’s convenience, and a selectable SHAKER feature to help cover the range of AC voltages encountered by the GT-95. There is also an over-voltage warning that gives the user a visual notification that the voltage levels have exceeded the 1000V AC/ 380V DC. In addition, there is also an auto-hold that automatically activates when the Greenlee tester is removed from voltage reading and the built in continuity test is designed to detect live conductors with only a single active probe. Finally, the Greenlee GT-95 has a safe, non-contact voltage detection and GFCI test capability which eliminates the need for additional testers and comes with a lifetime limited warranty.
