The Makita brand is always a great choice when it comes to a quality high powered, power tool, and lets be honest any professional craftsman will tell you that all tool manufacturers are not created equal. Makita is seen by some as the Mustang of the power tool world, meaning Makita has serious power where it counts, and has a legacy of loyalists who love their Makita power tools.

This high standing reputation goes double for the Makita 18″ 50 cc Chain Saw DCS51018. It has a beastly engine, delivering a very high power to weight ratio with its powerful 3.2 horsepower that growls to life with 13,500 RPM’s and comes with a power rating of 2.4 – 3.2. The fuel tank on the DCS51018 holds 15.6 ounces of fuel and the oil tank has a 9 ounce capacity. All in all the Makita DCS51018 is 12 pounds dry, without the bar and attached chain. It has a standard guide bar of 18″, and an optional guide bar that is 20″ with a chain pitch gauge of 3/8″ – .050″.  In addition an automatic half throttle lock is designed into the Makita DCS51018 for added ease in getting this rig fired up. lateral chain tensioning is also offered with this chainsaw to offer its operator a quick and convenient chain adjustment when necessary. One of the best features of this chain saw are how simply it breaks down and how easily it is cleaned. In addition the actual chain compartment itself clears chips away efficiently, while the chain saw is in use, and a “Tool-less” filter maintenance can be changed and replaced by hand, no tools required. Finally, the Makita DCS51018 comes packaged complete with a 18″ chain (523-102-064), a 18″ guide bar (443-045-661), a universal wrench (941-719-131), a carburetor screwdriver (944-340-001), and a torx wrench (940-827-000).
