The Breakdown of a Random Orbital Sander
A random orbital sander sands your wood swiftly and smoothly, leaving the finished appearance with little to no sand marks. The random motion of the random orbital sander is the key to the beautiful scratch free finish. Theses sanders use small disk shaped abrasive paper which can be produced and sold with varying levels of grit depending on how coarse or fine you desire your prospective finish. Using any random orbital sander equates to a lot of dust and debris flying up into the air, thus when operating the sander you should always wear a face mask to counteract the inhalation of the debris.
The Makita LXOB01Z 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 5″ Random Orbit Sander has three speed settings; the first at 7,000, the second at 9,500, and the third runs at 11,000 OPM. It is engineered for quick material removal, running up to 40 minutes on a low speed setting and 20 minutes on a high speed setting. Both of which are run times you can achieve on a single charge. Each of the three settings are available to you with the one-touch electronic speed control switch located on the machine. In addition, the Makita LXOB01Z Random Orbit Sander has an ergonomically designed body and grip for your hands comfort.
A pad brake is engineered for a reduced free-spin and an improved overall finish and aesthetic look. The large 1/8 random orbit action is specifically engineered for fast sanding action along with a swirl-free finish. Dust is not a problem with this device as Makita has included an efficient “through-the-pad” dust collection system for a healthier and cleaner working environment. The dust-sealed switch is an added benefit to this tool for lending it a longer tool life. The pad control system is also used to control the random orbit sander’s pad speed, upon start-up of the machine for use. The LXOB01Z does not come with the battery but the battery and charger can be purchased separately.
